Getrennte „Commons-Gipfel“

Die Einladung zum diesjährigen icommonssummit kommt so enthusiastisch daher, dass ich schwer bedaure, nicht vom 29. Juli bis 01. August in Saporro zu sein. Für das Klima ist das freilich besser.

Doch auch die Forscher und Aktivistinnen, die sich vor allem mit natürlichen Ressourcen befassen, belasten im Sommer gehörig ihr CO2 Konto. Sie treffen sich Mitte Juli in England zur IASC Konferenz (International Association for the Study of the Commons.)

Die Website für den eher wissenschaftslastigen internationalen Kongress der IASC im britischen Cheltenham (Gloucestershire) wirkt dagegen urig altmodisch. Eben so, wie man sich „Allmende“ vorstellt. Glücklich Schäfchen in intakten Dörfern mit saftigen Gemeindewiesen drumrum.

Folgerichtig finder der Kongress in einer reizvollen, ländlichen Gegend statt. Nicht getrieben vom städtischen „modern, creative, technology-orientated approach to business and public initiatives“ in Saporro. Mich friert ja immer ein bisschen bei solchen Beschreibungen. Etwas trocken motiviert das Team der IASC wohl höchstens die Auskenner (aber das sind eine Menge!):

The overarching theme of governing shared resources ir commons aims to encourage discussion on new ways of using, managing, protecting and creating what many understand as ‘commons‘. The themes recognise the wide variety of understanding over the term ‘commons‘ and the need to link practical experience at the local level with larger global commons issues.

Schweren Herzens musste ich meine Teilnahme am IASC absagen, weil die Übersetzung des Beitrags nicht rechtzeitig gelungen ist und die Kosten davon liefen… Aber wenn beide Events mal zusammen gelegt werden, bin ich in jedem Fall dabei.

Die IASC jedenfalls arbeitet in diese Richtung:

The emphasis of the conference is the exchange of knowledge on … ‘commons‘: between developing and developed world, between practitioners and researchers, and between old and ‘new‘ commons.
